Course RTW102

Introduction

This course is designed for existing operators who have not undergone any formal training to understand the engineering principles and safe operational practice of lift trucks. The existing operators must have sufficient experience to manoeuvre the lift truck in a confined area and be able to handle loads to the maximum stacking height within their working environment.

Aims

To enable the participants to acquire the skills and knowledge required to operate lift trucks safely and efficiently and to take both theoretical and practical tests. The practical test will be either the RTITB recommended test, NPORS test or an appropriate test devised to incorporate the operational use of the lift truck within the trainees working environment. The practical test will be decided prior to the commencement of the course depending on a site survey or information given by the company requiring training.

• Starting, moving, steering and stopping the fork truck.
• Steering.
• Hydraulic System.
• Pre-shift Inspection.
• Battery Care / Refuelling Procedures.
• Weight Assessment.
• Handling unladen and laden pallets.
• Driving on / off Ramps.
• Vehicle Loading and Unloading.
• Fork Truck Stability.
• Operators Safety Code.
• Testing.
• Course Closure

Duration
3 day course for 2 or 3 existing operator’s.
2 day course for 1 existing operator.

Where subjects can not be covered practicably then they will be either simulated or covered orally followed by an appropriate theoretical test.
