Objectives
This course is aimed at those personnel who possess the necessary
qualities to become instructors.
By the end of the course those persons will be able to assess the
needs for and conduct training in the realms of "Manual Handling"
parallel to the recommendations of current legislation.
Day 1

The Lesson Plan
A breakdown of the mechanics of the Lesson Plan |

of their choice for the next day. |
Day 2

Classroom Lessons
Delegates present individual lessons in the classroom followed by open critique |

The candidates will be filmed and an analysis of their posture, both sitting and standing
will be made. |

Sprains, Strains and Cumulative injury
The difference between a strain and sprain outlined
A description of cumulative injury and how it can be avoided |

Kinetic Handling
Explanation of Kinetic Handling
Demonstration of basic handling techniques
The need to follow simple rules when lifting
Carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing |

Day 4

Further practice including: Lifting from ground level, bench lift, and shoulder lift. |
