Introduction

This course is designed for participants to understand the engineering principles and safe operational practice of Narrow Aisle Lift Trucks either man raiser or standard ground level operated.

Aims

To enable the participants to acquire the skills and knowledge required to operate the trucks safely and efficiently and to take both theoretical and practical tests. The practical test will based on the NPORS test or an appropriate test devised to incorporate the operational use of the lift truck within the trainees working environment. The practical test will be decided prior to the commencement of the course depending on a site survey or information given by the company requiring training.

• Starting, moving, steering and stopping the lift truck.
• Steering.
• Hydraulic System.
• Pre-shift Inspection.
• Battery Care.
• Weight Assessment.
• Handling unladen and laden pallets.
• Fork Truck Stability.
• Operators Safety Code.
• Testing.
• Course Closure.

Course Duration
3-5 day course for 3 trainees.
1 -3 day course for 3 experienced operators.

Where subjects can not be covered practicably then they will be either simulated or covered orally followed by an appropriate theoretical test.

The course duration will depend on the application of the truck within its working environment and the experience of the operators.
