Introduction

Who is this course for?

This course has been designed for people who have been designated with the task of directing site traffic.

Any banksman, reversing assistant responsible for assisting in the manoeuvring and loading/unloading of vehicles.

Those who are involved with vehicle movements in factory yards, warehouses, loading bays and storage depots and construction site - workplace transport is used in a great variety of situations but sadly remains the second biggest cause of fatal injury in the workplace.

Adequately controlling the risks, especially the vehicle movement risks, depends on duty holders establishing and sustaining control over a wide range of matters.

Accidents broadly fall into 3 categories: Safe Site, Safe vehicle and safe driver.

Training Aims/Objectives

Course Objectives

• To know and understand the roles of the vehicle driver and the banksman/ reversing assistant in reversing operations
• The identification of areas of danger within sites
• To understand the key issues arising out of reversing and manoeuvring
• Identify areas of danger for reversing vehicles
• Demonstrate recommended HSE code of signals and reversing procedure

Certificate

Delegates who successfully complete this course will be awarded a Banksman Certificate of Competence.
